A Note from the Pastor

My, my, my,  All Souls is getting busy these days!  I’m not complaining mind you.  I think it is a good thing.

It seems that we are moving from a family church of just a dozen or so regulars to a small parish with active participation from the members, and that is exciting.  More and more people are starting to feel that All Souls is their parish and they want to be part of it.

During the summer most parishes experience a decline and the attendance plummets.  Not so with All Souls!  Perhaps it is our location, or our members, but we actually increased in attendance throughout the summer.  We’ve had visitors join us and express their desire to become a member.  Watching the steady growth is fun!

Of course we’ve not been without our sad moments too.  We’ve had Sundays were joy and sadness were intermingled so that we were signing out with joy one minute and had tears flowing the next.  We lost a very beloved member recently.  And our heart grieves for his family that are left behind.  Kim, may your soul rest in peace .

During the summer we also launched a Pledge Campaign for a church organ.  Now most church advisors would tell you to never start a pledge campaign in the summer.  But we did!  And we were able to raise the funds for the organ well before our goal.  Of course that is partially due to the generous contribution of a “friend” of the parish.  With the new (used) church organ, we are poised to develop an on-going choir and music program that will enhance our worship.

If you check out our church calendar, you will see that we are beginning educational and training classes as well as a new support group this month .  And the calendar is quickly filling up for October as well.  On October the 2nd and 3rd, we will be welcoming the Rev. Rosa Buffone, NE Regional Vicar, as she joins us for our potluck and our celebration of St. Francis’ Feast Day.  (A reminder that you are welcome to join us and bring your pet to be blessed).

All in all, the fall looks like it will be a terrific time to be part of the new work God is doing at All Souls.  If you have not yet joined us for worship we hope you will come by and check us out.  If you are looking for a church home, where you can be involved and part of a loving, supportive and welcoming community, we hope you will consider All Souls.  All are indeed welcome.

Blessings!
